Welcome To itsgood2beking.com

We are The Kings and we are so happy you visited today! We hope to have a family very soon and plan to use this site to share what's going on with us. It has been quite the journey, as most of you know! We know that we are meant to be parents; it's as plain and simple as that.

Family and friends are very important to us and we are excited for what the future holds. Our quest to have a family will be shared here, along with current events and other happenings with us. Come by often. We plan on updating alot!

SO FAR: Illya and Allison have been struggling with infertility for years. There had been one instance of pregnancy in 2004 that ended sadly in miscarriage. Because they knew that it was possible to get pregnant, they had been trying ever since. Seeking the help of a fertility specialist, it was determined that Allison needed a procedure to remove a benign polyp from her uterine lining. This polyp had shown clearly on a scan and was thought to be the reason for some problems she was having. After the procedure, the Dr had some challenging news for Illya and Allison. Based on his physical findings with her procedure, he diagnosed Allison with Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome and Endometriosis, Stage 3. Because of these conditons, insulin resistance, hormonal issues, and ovulatory problems had resulted. The endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) has been the main contributor in Allison's infertility problems. He estimated that these conditions probably started around Age 14. This was a challenging diagnosis, especially since the procedure to remove the polyp was to be a positive step, not the beginning of new issues. However, the Dr had a plan to begin treating the problem. He could not erase the scar tissue that had resulted from the endometriosis, a condition that many women have. But the Dr had a plan to try and treat the main problem at hand: he had seen in surgery that Allison had good eggs, but because her fallopian tubes were blocked as a result of the PCOS, no egg could travel and be fertilized. Under her Dr's care, and as a direct treatment, she successfully completed 6 months of medical menopause medicine to give her body a chance to clear her fallopian tubes and temporarily stave off the endometriosis that was ravaging her reproductive area. Allison then had a dye test, more formally called a hysterosalpingogram, on June 20, 2007 where blue dye was inserted into her fallopian tubes and observed. This test was a tool her Dr used to gauge the progress of the medication she had just completed. This was not a fun or easy test, but it was a success! The dye passed through both of her tubes, proving that her fallopians were now clear. This is now a time sensitive issue to try and conceive before her endometriosis progresses further or her tubes clog again. The Dr has determined that Allison is healthy enough to conceive and carry to term. She and Illya now see the specialist regularly, and have begun charting her waking temperatures (basal body temperature or BBT) to pinpoint fertile days within her cycle. After a few cycles, it was determined that Allison was not ovulating because her PCOS is causing her body to withhold her eggs and not release one monthly. Allison had been prescribed fertility medication called Clomid to help her body to ovulate and release the egg.

**UPDATE** The single dosage that her Dr. prescribed wasn't working, so he upped it to double dosage. Alas, no baby. Instead of moving to a triple dose, Allison shared her endometriosis concerns with her Dr. All the months that Allison was on Clomid, her endometriosis was still growing and spreading and her PCOS was worsening, threatening her fertility further. There are pretty much only 2 ways to stop endo growth besides hysterectomy: pregnancy and birth control pills. Both pregnancy and birth control pills create a hormone that keeps the endmetriosis at bay. Allison was very worried about te growth that may have been occuring while the Clomid was not working. Instead of jumping headlong into another fertility medication, she decided to give her body a rest and be on birth control for awhile. We know, kinda counterproductive to the goal. But Allison and Illya talked about the decision to be on birth control for the moment. God is leading them to do this until they can re-group and discuss something else with the specialist. Allison's conditions are being halted while they take a breather, and God is giving them peace about their current decision.*

THE SCOOP! THE SKINNY! THE DIRT!

More recent news:

Allison is 32! She celebrated her actual birtday by spending the evening with her good friend, Ivonne. (Sadly, Illya had to work). However, Illya had a surprise get-together after The March of Dimes walk and the entire Northwest Team of costumed activists were here to celebrate. Thanks to Heather, Drew, and Alex for their help with this event.

Allison and Illya have moved down the street and their new apartment is awesome! Not only are they neighbors with friend Ivonne and her family, Allison and Illya have gotten to know the landlord, who works with Allison. The three families have already joined each other for a mass eating celebration, and there will be many more to come. Summer is approaching....can you smell bbq? If you need the new address for your records, please call Allison.

There has been an addition to our family! New kitty Cinco was abandoned on the side of a road in a shoebox when he was only 2 weeks old. Thank goodness Illya found him last winter and brought him home. After 2 failed attempts at trying to find him a new home, it was pretty apparent that this kitten was perfect and fit our life to a tee. Even though we were NOT looking for another cat, we are so glad that we were able to rescue him. We have grown to love him very much. Pics to come!

Well, the secret is out! Illya's charity work as a costumed activist is no longer something only a few people know. Illya started patrolling the streets to help the homeless about 2 years ago. (Anyone who knows this man knows his kind heart and wouldn't be surprised.) He came out of a room one day in a neat outfit and a 'Z' on his chest, and introduced Allison to his alter ego. (His full name withheld because of privacy for others on this site...but if you know him, you know what he calls himself. ) She thought the outfit might be a phase, like the Lego castles! But it became very apparent to her that Illya was serious, and she later found out that there are a whole host of individuals online and on myspace that patrol their respective cities, doing good and helping others. Allison embraced the 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em' attitude, and began accompanying Illya as he organized small blood drives and handed out socks, gloves, and cheeseburgers to homeless folks. She and Illya began co-hosting a weekly podcast. Illya even formed a small crew of folks to walk The Race For The Cure downtown. Illya has grown as a costumed activist, and has big plans and dreams of different ways to get involved with the community. He has formed The Alternates, a group of folks in The Northwest that were already doing what he does. Together, the Alternates have put on benefit concerts to help charities, an they organize group efforts to get involved in their area. We are proud to say we know him; Illya is our very own costumed activist! If you know us, be sure to check in from time to time to see what he's up to.

Illya is building his page on this site. Make sure not to miss it in it's developing stages. Illya is an extraordinary cartoonist and we are so proud of his amazing talent. Anyone who has had the pleasure of being on the same team as him in Pictionary knows exactly what a weapon he is. He has his own page and it's growing. Check it out!

Older News, but news, nonetheless:

Illlya has turned the big Three-Oh! We celebrated by meeting friends and a little family at Salvador Molly's, where Illya braved the The Great Balls of Fire and lived to tell the tale. Great Balls of Fire is a culinary challenge at Salvador Molly's. The brave soul that can eat 5 habanero cheese fritters with all the sauce AND not throw up gets their picture on the Wall of Fame. Well, Illya did it, even though it looked like he might pass out. Swing by Salvador Molly's sometime and check out that courageous man we all know and love! After dinner, we drove to Milwaukie and played Lasertag. It was a blast! The next day, Illya and Allison drove to Astoria for some sightseeing and took lots of pictures of all the landmarks in 'The Goonies'. It was a great adventure. Birthday and trip pics coming soon!

Illya and Allison are back from a wedding in Seattle and new pics are up. Allison's brother Scott got married and the wedding was awesome. The food was great, the bride was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and as always, Scott was a ham! We are so happy for these kids, and wish them all the happiness they can stand. We love you, Scott and Kim! Congratulations! (Be sure to check out the pics of new sister in law. *whistle*)

Illya is gearing up for Race For The Cure 2008! He will be joined by a few other heroes as they raise money for breast cancer.

Illya and Allison just got back from a quick Seattle trip for Illya to patrol with new heroes. As an added bonus, Allison was able to see her brother and his fiancee Kim. The four of them spent a nice afternoon having lunch and hanging out. New pics are on this site. Check em' out!

Allison spent her 31st birthday with Illya in Los Angeles, and they had a blast! She was in the 'Price is Right' audience, they marvelled at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and were even present for a Jimmy Kimmel taping! They stayed with Illya's aunt and uncle in Glendor and got some good bonding time in with Illya's beloved grandmother. The entire trip was awesome and they hope t vissit again soon.

Allison's Dr has switched her to a birth control pill for the next 6 months in order to correct a hormonal imbalance and give her body a break from the Clomid. She has not had any luck on the medication up to this point, and opted to transition instead to another medication. She will keep you all informed. Wish her luck!

Happy Anniversary Illya and Allison! 7 years married on February 3! Those crazy kids!
